Standard Assessment Procedure
(SAP) &
Energy Performance Certificates (EPC)
Energy Performance Certificates are required by Building Control before the Completion
Certificate can be issued. They are primarily produced to advise the occupier or
potential purchaser how energy efficient the home is. To create an EPC, a trained
and licensed Domestic Energy Assessor needs to carry out an SAP calculation. This
is done by entering information about the building design, such as insulation details,
window and floor areas and heating systems into proprietary software programs which
calculate the ‘energy performance’ of the home.
The assessor lodges the rating with
the relevant licensing body and issues the certificate. If you are using unusual
methods of construction, materials or energy sources please inform us at the outset
as they may affect the quote.
