Code for Sustainable Homes

Code for Sustainable Homes:
The Code is an environmental assessment for new dwellings which covers nine categories of sustainable design such as energy performance, water consumption and materials. Ratings are 1 - 6, where level 1 is marginally above Building Regulations and level 6 is a ‘zero-carbon’ building. There is a zero-rating which is a self-exemption available if a rating level is not compulsory. Some clients want a Code Assessment for their own purposes but in most cases it is carried out because it is a planning condition. This assessment can only be carried out by a trained and licensed assessor.

For a preliminary meeting and a completion inspection up to Code level 3 the fee is £1650. It is important that you inform us if you are required to achieve levels 4, 5 or 6. Please note that the fee quoted is for the assessment only. This includes some limited consultancy but site conditions or other complications can require further input which is not included, such as an ecologist's report, a renewable energy consultant's or a water engineer's report. To achieve levels 4, 5 and 6 additional fees will be required and these can be quoted separately.
